Erchie

Erchie, a small Saracen village , was a Greek colony in the IV  century BC. In the X century the village, became very powerful because of the Benedectine Abbey of St. Mary de Irchi, that held the Ius Piscarie on all the fishingof the area.

In 1440 violent hurricane destroyed the Abbey and the village became a fishermens village and an important tuna market.

Erchie, rises to half road between Amalfi and Salerno.
